New London-Spicer Public Schools is asking voters to consider an Operating Levy for Learning this fall on November 3, 2026 to maintain classroom instruction, staffing, academic programs, activities, and school safety – with no increase to what residents currently pay in school taxes.
New London-Spicer believes in strong schools and strong futures. Over the past several years, New London-Spicer has had to make tough decisions to keep classrooms running which has resulted with nearly $750,000 in budget cuts. With declining enrollment in younger grades this means more budget cuts are likely in the district’s future.
Voters will be asked this fall to consider an Operating Levy for Learning, which will help maintain the high-quality education while making sure there is no increase to what residents currently pay in school taxes. A new Minnesota law will allow seasonal and recreational properties – about 25% of our tax base – to contribute to local operating levies. This will mean more support for students, shared more fairly across the community.
