Degrees and Certifications:
Ms. Copley - Gifted/Talented Coordinator
Greetings! I have an Elementary Teaching Degree and a Masters in Middle School Science Education with training in G/T and Cooperative Learning. After several years in a 4,5,6 multi-age classroom, I taught in a math/science G/T program in Oregon before joining NL-S in 2001. My position here is part time: three days a week, Mondays and Tuesdays at the Middle School (room 215) and Thursdays I am teaching at Prairie Woods Elementary. Most grade levels K-8 have G/T flexible grouping pull-out options during parts of the year, in reading and in math/science. The eighth grade leaders in YES! and FCC conduct outdoor science lessons in the nature area for all classes in grades 1-3 in the spring. I coordinate one conference per year on an alternating schedule: students in grades 3-6 with writing talents are invited to the SWWC Young Writers Conference (with the option of entering the SWWC Creative Writing Contest) and those with math/science talents are invited to the SWWC Science/Nature Conference.
