New London-Spicer Educational Foundation

MISSION
To enhance the quality of education in the New London-Spicer School District by helping fund programs for the benefit of all students.

WHO ARE WE?
The Foundation is a private organization, filed as a non-profit under Section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code, able to raise monies needed to help support programs for staff and provide “venture capital” for innovative activities for which there are limited funds.

BACKGROUND
In 2006, ten community leaders from New London–Spicer began exploring the idea of forming an Educational Foundation.  The Foundation is the vehicle for accepting Cash Gifts, Securities, and Planned Gifts to help the School District in providing learning opportunities for the area children. In the fall of 2006, a Foundation brochure was mailed to households of the School District, and over $50,000 was given. In September 2008, an annual School District Employee Drive began. These contributions have made it possible to begin a granting program to help New London-Spicer schools.

To date, over $150,000 in grants have been awarded to New London-Spicer School District. Grants have been used to support and enhance curriculum areas in Art, Mathematics, Language Arts, Music, Media Center/Library, Science, Physical Education, Health and Wellness, Theater, After-School Programs, and Implementing Technology into the classroom.
