Homeschool Information

In accordance with Minnesota state law, New London-Spicer School District is required to ensure that all school-age children living within the district’s boundaries are being educated. The district’s primary role is to provide the necessary information and forms to each Home School for compliance and documentation. The district has no educational records of students who have been home schooled. Likewise, the district does not verify or certify any home school diploma or transcript.

Home school parents are required to do everything that traditional private school administrators and teachers do, but in the context of their home. This means homeschool parents must plan their curriculum "what students learn", keep all records, manage all costs and assure the quality and scope of their student's education for college recruiters and employers. Homeschool students graduate from home schools with home school diplomas and home school transcripts, just as they would from other private schools.

Registration

The following information is mandatory and must be submitted to this office by October 1 of each year. If complete information is not received, the district must report the Home School as "Not Compliant" to the State of Minnesota:

Initial Registration Form
This form is to be completed and submitted by October 1 or within 15 days of withdrawing a child from a public school in order to home school.

Letter of Intent to Continue to Provide Instruction
This form is to be completed and submitted by October 1 of each year after the instructor has provided the same district with an Initial Registration Form.

Provide student immunization records or MDE's conscientious objection to immunizations form.

Disabilities Education Improvement Act (TDETA 2004)

In order to qualify for services, students must meet eligibility criteria established by the State of Minnesota. Services are provided to eligible students through consultation and/or direct instruction at a public school building in your public school.
