A Message from Our Superintendent: Recognizing Student Accomplishments!

It is hard to believe that the first day of Spring was March 1. Granted, this was the Meteorological start of Spring.  The Astronomical first day of Spring…March 20 does not seem to be much better.  One thing, for sure, is that our students are looking forward to warmer weather! Our senior class is facing the excitement of graduation and the upcoming challenges and of the future which lies before them.  In most cases, they will be working at jobs to make money for their upcoming college days or will be adjusting to for the world of work.

What we hope we have accomplished as parents and educators is that our kids have made good choices and are prepared for their adult years.  I hope that our children did not allow many opportunities afforded by their days in school to pass them by.  I hope they are more pleased than disappointed by their efforts and choices they have made, and I hope as parents we are also satisfied that we helped guide our children to many of these rewarding activities.

As our spring activities will soon be in full swing, our District has many awards and recognition events celebrating the accomplishments of many of our students.  During these events, I am overwhelmed and proud of the accomplishments of all our students.  These events provide an opportunity for our parents to celebrate with their children, share in their accomplishments and showcase their talents.  These activities in many ways are an important part of our students’ school years.  With all the homework, tests, and graduation standards that are required to keep students on track for high school; learning about getting along with others, working as a team and learning about themselves are just as important for our students' success in school and beyond.

Please access our website and follow our school on social media to be aware of the important recognition events, extracurricular activities, and concerts.

I am grateful to have had the opportunity to serve as the New London-Spicer School District Superintendent for the past 17 years.

Have a great Spring and end of the 2018-2019 school year!

Paul Carlson, Superintendent of NL-S Schools
