Financial State of the District - Community Meetings

New London-Spicer students make us proud and we are honored to serve them. We know the value they bring to our community, our businesses, our lives.

Our District is Facing Urgent Financial Challenges
  • With the failure of the referendum, and without additional revenue, we reduced last year’s budget and are in the process of reducing the upcoming school year budget for a total of $1.2 million with additional significant cuts in the forecast.
  • Budget cuts impact every student in these ways: fewer programs, activities and opportunities, increasing activity fees, reducing staff (which results in larger class sizes) and cutting bus routes (which means longer bus times).
  • We're engaging the community to learn about priorities for our communities' schools.
We started the conversation with New London-Spicer staff and school district families mid-April and our Community Task Force Meetings took place in April and May. You may have been called to participate in a survey. The survey results will be available at the end of June. In the meantime, we invite you and a friend to join one of our Community Meetings and help the district set a new direction.
