NLS Educational Foundation’s Community Endowment for the Arts awarded $500.00 for a "Mankato Theatre Workshop" grant.
The New London-Spicer Educational Foundation’s Community Endowment for the Arts awarded $500.00 to Paula Prill, High School Theatre Instructor, for her grant titled, Mankato Theatre Workshop.
The Mankato High School Theatre Workshop is an opportunity in Minnesota for high school theatre participants to join with other students to take classes taught by college theater professors. The student participants will also enjoy a play in the evening, presented by the college.
The goal of this grant experience is to expand the theatrical curriculum by increasing access to high-quality professional experiences and aid in increasing participation within the New London-Spicer Arts programming.
With the elimination of the high school theatre classes, our high school has no theatrical curriculum offerings other than the process of putting on a musical in the fall and a play in the spring. These workshops are hands-on and taught by professionals in the field. Providing a much-needed opportunity for NLS students that are passionate about the performing arts.
"Our numbers for this opportunity continue to grow," Prill continued, "as students come back filled with ideas and encouragement as well as networking with other Minnesota students that love theatre!"
